Safeway carried out a major project to redesign a family of returnable transit trays. This had implications for distribution, ergonomics, suppliers, security, merchandising, imports/exports and associated equipments. Design had to take a large number of factors into account ranging from weight and appearance after many uses, to life span and washing drainage and recovery programmes
