Tesco have a successful waste recycling and tray washing depot in Boucher Crescent, Belfast. Fresh food suppliers can pack their products on reusable, green plastic trays provided by the company. The plant washes and re-uses up to 6 million trays per annum, a saving of around 6,000 tonnes of cardboard.

Stretch wrapping of loaded pallets by hand uses more wrap and packaging than would be required if an automatic stretch wrapper were used. JF McKenna estimate that they will save almost £8,000 per year by installing an automatic stretch wrapper.
