Community Groups

Community Groups have been recognised to influence the general public dealing with a wide spectrum of both Social and environmental issues.

As a result the Wake up to Waste team are targeting community groups with the aim to increase public participation. We can provide help and support in raising the awareness and participation of the 3Rs to community groups at all levels.

We are currently forging partnerships with central community group networks to develop a programme of assistance. If you would like to get involved  please get in touch by phoning

Get Involved in Waste Prevention

The National Resource and Waste Forum (NRWF) have published a household waste prevention toolkit to help community groups.  Community organisations will find it a fast track means to planning and implementing a waste prevention programme and a practical guide to carrying out individual waste prevention activities with the consumer. It gives guidance on how to:

  • develop and make the business case to win the support of elected
  • members and community based organisations
  • select, plan and implement waste prevention schemes
  • create and run a waste prevention communication campaign and change consumer behaviour
