Glass Waste

Activity – Glass Recycling Jingle

You will need

• 3 – 6 washed out glass jars or bottles
• A jug of water
• Pencils

What to Do

• Tapping a jar or bottle with a pencil makes a sound.  By adding water you can alter that sound or note
• Add varying amounts of water to the jars or bottles to make different sounds that sound good together

Extension:

• Set the ‘Smash Crash Bash’ (onomatopoeia) poem you wrote to music to make a recycling jingle or rap using your bottles or jars
• Use a tune you already know e.g. 10 green bottles or make up your own
• Record or perform your jingle for a school assembly – you may wish to use  ‘Wake up to Waste’ as a theme for an assembly
• Form a ‘Wake up to Waste Band’ with your friends playing the shakers and tambourines they have made, more info in Metals.

You may wish to play your instruments while your friends give their Catwalk Display.
