Activity – present this short history of Paper as a Timeline

When did it all happen?

• 240 BC  Papyrus, a paper like material was used by the Egyptians      before paper was invented.  Papyrus was made from leaves
• 200 BC   Paper was made from fishing nets in China
• 105 AD   Paper was made from plants in Lei-Yang, China
• 264 AD   The earliest clearly dated paper was discovered
• 700 AD    Muslin (a cotton fibre) was produced from the region that is now Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iraq
• 1150 AD   The first European paper mill was built in Spain
